Applications for 2026 commencement are now CLOSED.
From 2025, the College will oversee the recruitment process for all clinical radiology accredited training positions within Victoria. This means applicants will no longer register with the PMCV.
The College run process has been designed collaboratively with each Victorian health service to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment experience for all applicants.
You can view eligibility criteria here.
Please note, the College does not place restrictions based on visa or citizenship status, provided you have the right to live and work in Australia. However, to join the training program, you must secure employment in an accredited position. Most employers or networks require applicants to hold Australian permanent residency or citizenship at the time of application. If you do not hold this status, it is strongly recommended that you check directly with individual sites or networks before applying for a CRVN.

When you have received a valid 2025 CRVN, fill in the site preference form.
Click here to select your site preferences
It is important that you only rank sites that you are willing to work at. You do not have to rank every site.
After interviews are completed, applicants will be able to remove or reorder preferences. You cannot add a preference after this form has been submitted.
Please note that Ballarat Health is a potential site that is yet to be accredited. For this reason, ensure that do not only select Ballarat as a preference.
If Ballarat Health is not accredited before the match process, it will be removed from your preferences.
After shortlisting process occurs:
Following the application closing date, participating health services will review the applications and a shortlist will be drawn up for interview. Not all applicants can be shortlisted for interview, nor can every interviewed applicant be successful in gaining a training position.
Applicants who progress to interviews will receive email notification and a link to schedule interview times. Times will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
All shortlisted candidates will attend a single centralised interview regardless of the number of health services they preference. The interview panel will be made up of a representative from each health services.
Interview information
To assist you in preparing, interviews questions are aligned to the competency domains available under the 'Shortlisting, CV Scoring Criteria and Interviews' tab on this page Applying to Training Programs | RANZCR.
Questions may cover clinical scenarios, but you will not be required to have in-depth radiological knowledge.
As in previous years, the College will be using a preference-based matching system similar to the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) model. Applicants will be matched to sites based on their submitted preferences and site rankings, with the process aiming to align allocations with applicant preferences wherever possible.
We recommended preferencing sites that you want to work at, not sites that you think will preference you highly.
The algorithm is designed to find the best possible match available to you. If your list does not reflect your actual preferences, it might stop you from being matched to a hospital you could have gotten into you ranked it higher.
While preferencing more sites may increase your chances of matching, as it gives more opportunities for alignment with site rankings, you should only preference hospitals where you are genuinely willing to train. There is no benefit in listing a site you would not accept an offer from.
Need help?
Do I need to include supporting documents, certificates or transcripts?
No, CV submissions do not require additional supporting documentation.
I want to add something to my templated CV, but its not listed.
Generally, if something is not listed as a category on the CV template its exclusion is deliberate, and it will not be assessed. If there is an activity or achievement that you want sites to be aware of, you can place it in your summary or personal statement.
Can I nominate someone who isn’t a clinical supervisor?
You can, but it is strongly recommended to choose clinical supervisors.
Can referees send in letters of support?
No, additional letters or documents will not be viewed by sites.
Do I have to rank all sites?
No, you should only rank sites that you are willing to work at.
Can I change my preferences later?
Yes, if you are selected for interview you will be able to reorder, add or remove preferences afterwards.
Will sites know what preference I gave them?
No, preference information is not shared with sites.
Will I be interviewed by each site separately?
No, there will be one centralised interview, attended by a panel of representatives from all participating sites.
Can I reschedule my interview?
Interview slots are allocated on a first-come basis, if a different time is still available you can swap but most spots are taken by the end of the day.
Will I be able to ask questions during the interview?
No. This is because the interview panel is made up of a representative of each site so it will not be possible to ask site specific questions. Please direct process inquiries to the College and site-specific questions via email to the listed contact person.
Will I be asked about radiology-specific knowledge?
No, interviews focus on general clinical and professional competencies, not detailed radiological knowledge.
What am I assessed on in the interview?
Broadly, you are marked based on the content and clarity of your answers, and your communications skills.
How many positions are available?
Due to timing of Phase 2 exam results, we do not know the number of available positions at the time of interviews.
However, you can use the below information as a guide:

It’s a preference-based system, similar to PMCV. Matches are based on your preferences and site rankings.
Should I list sites I think will rank me highly?
No, you should rank sites in order of where you would most like to train. The algorithm works best for you when your preferences reflect your genuine choices.
