The Clinical Radiology, Radiology MCQ Examination Review Panel (CRRERP) develops, sets, reviews, and marks the Phase 2 Case Reporting written examinations. Joining the panel is a rewarding way to contribute to both your profession and the College.

About the Panel

The Clinical Radiology Phase 2 MCQ Examination Review Panel (CRRERP) is comprised of nine members; one chair and at least one member for each topic area:

  • Abdominal,
  • Cardiovascular/Thoracic and Interventional,
  • Neurological/Head and Neck,
  • Musculoskeletal,
  • Paediatric,
  • Breast and
  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology. 

The work of panel is guided by the following principles:

  • Acting in the best interests of patients
  • Supporting high-quality healthcare
  • Upholding the integrity of clinical radiology, RANZCR, and the Faculty of Clinical Radiology

Member Expectations

  • Participate actively in meetings and decision-making
  • Attend at least 50% of meetings each year
  • Join additional workshops or training (e.g. standard setting, blueprinting, question development)
  • Review meeting papers and minutes in advance
  • Attend the annual face-to-face meeting
  • Act with care, diligence, and in the best interests of the CRRERP and RANZCR.

Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Contribute to exam development, review, marking, and standard setting
  • Maintain and enhance the question bank to ensure fairness, accuracy, and consistency
  • Provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement
  • Respond to emails, provide feedback, and undertake other tasks as required on behalf of the Panel.
  • Remain informed about developments affecting the panel’s work
  • Review examination outcomes, track trends, and identify areas of concern for training purposes
  • Support Faculty policy development
  • Foster collaboration with College partners and stakeholders

Eligibility

We invite Fellows or Life Members with a minimum of three years post-award of FRANZCR or equivalent.

If you are passionate and experienced in exam preparation or teaching, this role may suit you. You don’t need expertise in the entire syllabus—regular teaching in key areas is sufficient.

Selection Criteria

  • Skilled evaluator and communicator
  • Current clinical experience in relevant curriculum areas
  • Practising sub-specialist/special interest in your field
  • Knowledge of curriculum, learning outcomes, and assessment
  • Interest or expertise in examinations
  • Active involvement in teaching and training of clinical radiologists
  • Active participation in the College CPD program
  • Understanding of the medical, educational, and regulatory context in which RANZCR operates
  • Available for travel for face-to-face meetings

Time commitment

Members should be able to dedicate around 1–2 hours per week to College examination activities, with additional time around meetings and examinations.

The Panel typically meets several times a year to set, edit, and Radiology MCQ examinations. Meetings include one face-to-face session (travel required) and others via webinar, each requiring up to 8 hours of preparation and attendance.

Typical schedule:

  • 1 x setting meeting (2 days)
  • 2 x review meetings (1 day each)
  • Examiner training session (1 day)

Length of Tenure

Panel members serve a three-year term and can be reappointed for up to three terms in a row. After that, they need to take a two-year break before rejoining, unless the Panel Chair and Chair of CREAC approve an extension.
