OSCER Examination Review Panel calling for Expressions of Interest

Expressions of interest are being called for current members with interest and experience in examination and assessment to join the Clinical Radiology OSCER Examination Review Panel (CROERP).

The Clinical Radiology OSCER Examination Review Panel is a panel reporting to the Clinical Radiology Examination Advisory Committee (CREAC) responsible for setting, reviewing and development of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination in Radiology (OSCER).

During the transition period of implementing the examination changes as a result of the Training and Assessment Reform, the OSCER Review Panel will be responsible for both the current Viva examination and the new OSCER. The panel will also be responsible for developing and maintaining a bank of questions for the future clinical radiology OSCER and the setting, editing and reviewing of examination questions for the clinical radiology OSCER.

Vacancies

There are currently vacancies on the OSCER Panel for the following topic areas:

  • Abdominal

Members

Fifteen members (including the chair), with at least two members (with Viva experience) for each topic area (Abdominal, Neuro/Head and Neck, Thoracic/Cardio, Breast, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MSK and Paediatrics).

Meeting commitment

Attendance at Committee meetings (teleconference and face-to-face).

  • 1 x setting meeting (2 days)
  • 2 x review meetings (1 day)
  • 1 x examiner training (1 day)

Content commitment

Panel members will need to actively participate in sourcing and collating digital examination cases.

  • Setting, editing, uploading and reviewing of Viva cases for the Series 1 and Series 2 CR Vivas (normally 60 – 80 cases due February each year).
  • Developing and maintaining a bank of questions for the future CR OSCER including uploading content into Practique Exam platform.
  • Contribute to the development of the new examination format from Series 1 2023.

Examining commitment

  • Available to travel to Melbourne to examine Vivas in Series 2 2022
  • Available to lead all examiners in exam sitting through viva cases prior to vivas

Eligibility criteria

Essential attributes

  • A Fellow or Life member of the Faculty of Clinical Radiology at least six years post-FRANZCR or equivalent.
  • Must have Viva examining experience.
  • Must currently be a practicing sub-specialist/special interest in their field.
  • Available for travel for face-to-face meetings.
  • Knowledgeable of curriculum and assessment processes.
  • An active participant in their College’s CPD program and meets or exceeds minimal requirements.

Desirable attributes

  • Interest and/or expertise in examination matters.
  • Actively involved in teaching and training of clinical radiologists.
  • Understanding of the medical, educational, operational, regulatory and political environment in which the College operates.
  • A skilled evaluator and good communicator.
