The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) has recently released the final report of Expert Advisory Group (EAG) on Revalidation and the creation of a new Professional Performance Framework. This work will impact all Australian doctors and we are bringing it to the attention of College members for that reason.
The Professional Performance Framework aims to support doctors to take responsibility for their own performance and encourage the profession collectively to raise professional standards and build a positive, respectful culture in medicine that benefits patients and doctors.

The report has been sent to both Faculty Councils for their information and will be tabled for discussion at the next Council meeting. The report will also be tabled at the next Continuous Professional Development Committee (CPDC) and Post Fellowship Education Committee (PFEC) meetings. Representatives from the College and the CPDC and PFEC will be attending a Medical Board of Australia workshop on Building a Professional Performance Framework in Melbourne on 15 February 2018.
AHPRA has not announced any formal consultation process on this report or any specific timeframes. They have indicated that the changes will come into effect in two years’ time, but there are many areas that will still need to be clarified at the February Forum and as more information becomes available we will keep members informed.
