The RANZCR Perinatal Post-mortem Investigation Training Package has been created to provide radiologists with essential skills to conduct perinatal post-mortem investigations and set up and manage a perinatal post-mortem imaging service in Australia. The Training Package is inclusive of six webinars and three radiology practice support resources.

The Clinical Information Form – Perinatal post-mortem MRI referral resource is to be utilised by radiologists at the time of referral for a perinatal post- mortem MRI examination to ensure the required information has been obtained to interpret imaging findings.

The perinatal post-mortem MRI policy and procedure template resource is to be utilised by medical imaging departments and radiologists to assist in determining the appropriate procedures regarding referrals, consent, transportation and return of a stillborn infant during a post-mortem investigation.

The perinatal post-mortem MRI report template is to be utilised by the reporting radiologist to assist in the reporting of perinatal post-mortem MRI studies and can be amended by reporting radiologist where relevant.

As part of the National Stillbirth Action and Implementation Plan (NSAIP), RANZCR collaborated with several other organisations involved in the plan. This collaboration allowed shared learning between the organisations as well as preventing duplication of materials being developed. The resources available below provide access to work developed by the other organisations involved in NSAIP that RANZCR have collaborated with.
Red Nose is Australia’s leading authority on bereavement support for anyone affected by miscarriage/stillbirth of a baby or child. Red Nose supports families who have experienced the death of a baby during pregnancy and is working collaboratively with researchers and allied organisation to help prevent stillbirth.

The guideline is for all healthcare professionals who care for parents and families/whānau in maternal and newborn care services in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
The guideline was developed to ensure best practice across Australia and New Zealand around the time of a perinatal death; improve maternity and newborn care for bereaved parents and families/whānau and improve the quality of data on causes of stillbirth and neonatal deaths through appropriate investigation, audit and classification.
