The Safety, Quality and Standards Committee (SQSC) would like to invite members to review and provide feedback on the recently developed Anaesthetic Sedation Guidelines.
These guidelines have been developed to provide guidance for clinical radiologists (CRs), interventional radiologists (IRs), and interventional neuroradiologists (INRs) in providing safe sedation to their patients in Australia and New Zealand.
The use of sedation in clinical practice is necessary to improve patient experience and comfort, and to alleviate anxiety. Failure to plan for and manage these issues adequately may risk adverse patient outcomes and also reduce procedural success. It is important that CRs, IRs, and INRs can plan and administer safe and effective intravenous conscious sedation, as well as intravenous analgesia, to improve patient outcomes.
We would appreciate your feedback before the consultation closes on Friday 11 July 2025.

Documentation: RANZCR Anaesthetic Sedation Guidelines CONSULTATION
RANZCR is pleased to announce the revised Standards of Practice for Clinical Radiology v12.0 are now open for stakeholder consultation until 7 August 2025. We invite you to submit your feedback via this form which will be used to refine the final document.
The Standards of Practice set minimum standards to support and ensure the delivery of safe, high quality diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology services and provides a framework for practices to implement and maintain continuous quality improvement.
These Standards have undergone significant review and revision. Minor amendments have been made, such as the application of consistent terminology and updating of content to reflect current practice. Substantial changes include: aligning the structure with other Australian and international standards; encompassing the Modality Standards within the broader General Standards to avoid unnecessary duplication and specificity that is susceptible to frequent update; and the Standards of Practice for Interventional Radiology and Interventional Neuroradiology is now a separate document included as an addendum.
