The College is seeking feedback from members regarding a position statement to inform Clinical Radiologists in screening and diagnosis of silicosis resulting from exposure to the dust within engineered stone. Australia has identified a significant incidence of silicosis in workers exposed to the dust containing high silica content within engineered stone. Whilst there are no reported cases of the disease in New Zealand, similar rates are expected with comparable use of engineered stone products. This is a high priority, public health issue and members are encouraged to contribute to this consultation.
