In November 2017, the Medical Board of Australia released its report on their new revalidation requirements under the Professional Performance Framework which will be introduced sometime after 2020. The College brought this to the attention of members in January 2018.
The Professional Performance Framework will significantly change CPD requirements for all medical practitioners registered in Australia. All medical practitioners will be required to:
We know that currently for College members, around 48 per cent of CPD participation is attending conferences or meetings but only 10 per cent of CPD participation is on peer review or measuring outcomes. We encourage members to prepare to complete a minimum of 12.5 hours of CPD each year based on peer review and measuring outcomes.
The College is working actively on preparing for the new requirements and has engaged the services of Professor Elizabeth Farmer, the head of the MBA’s Expert Advisory Group, to work with College staff and the CPD Committee and Post Fellowship Education Committee to assist with the preparation.
