The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) welcomes the Government’s announcement of the first proton therapy centre expected to be operational in South Australia by 2020. Radiation therapy is a highly effective cancer treatment option, estimated to be involved in 40% of all cancer cures. It is currently available in 84 treatment centres in Australia, across both the public and private sectors.
